"A broad tornado has blown through the Oklahoma City metropolitan area at the start of evening rush hour. State offices and a number of businesses let their workers go home hours earlier so they could be out of harm's way.
There were no immediate reports of significant injuries.
The tornado was on the ground for more than an hour Tuesday afternoon, giving forecasters plenty of time to warn residents. As it progressed eastward, it threatened Oklahoma City's northern neighborhoods and suburbs.
Interstate 40 was closed west of the city as the storm crossed the roadway near suburban El Reno, and state police were checking reports of damage at a home."
