Two to tango.

To call this day interesting would be an understatement, this day has been crazy for MWC and Foot’s Forecast. We began today with our outlook on Hurricane Irene (which we will look at in a second), and around 1:30 the earth rattled our floors and minds with a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Many buildings across the area received damage and luckily few injuries have been reported. As for aftershocks, as of the posting time for this there have been three recorded since the main quake, the largest being approx. a 4.5 felt across the state. We can expect these to continue for as long as two to three weeks.Epicenter relative to Maryland map.

As this quake has captured our attention all afternoon, it is still imperative to keep our eye on the tropics and Hurricane Irene. She is has weakened a bit as the system rolls over a bit of land but is expected to come back over the next 48 hours and regain its strength. The National Hurricane Center has slowly pushed the track more east putting Irene of the Delmarva coast Saturday night. We are still expecting substantial impacts from Irene over the weekend. Keep updated on Irene with NHC, Foot’s Forecast, and MWC over the next week as things begin to come into the clear about the final destination of this system.

Enjoy the beautiful weather as things will be the same tomorrow as they were today…just without the shaking…hopefully.
