Severe Weather Risk for Today

Today started of with some rain showers, but it promises to end with a bang. Storm Prediction Center has Maryland for a slight risk of severe weather today, this mean that there is a very good probability for severe weather to occur. Right now there is a very powerful cold from pushing its way across the Appalachian Mountains, with it is a very strong squall line(a organized line of thunderstorms) that is severe warned. There are several Tornado Watches, meaning that the risk for tornadoes is very high. My guess is that western, central, and southern Maryland will be under a tornado watch as the line of storms pushes closer.  The maps page will be updated whenever a new advisory is issued. Be sure to stay tuned to a weather radio, regular radio, or one of the local tv stations to keep updated with this dangerous situation.

People living in Garrett county will feel the effected of this system first. Although the risk for tornadoes is higher  than normal, its not the biggest threat. Our biggest risk is wind, gusts in storms can reach up and past 60mph. BE CAREFUL!!!
