THE METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS IN ASSOCIATION WITH MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT, VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, AND DISTRICT DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT HAS ISSUED A CODE ORANGE AIR QUALITY ALERT THURSDAY FOR THE DC METRO AREA. A CODE ORANGE AIR QUALITY ALERT MEANS THAT AIR POLLUTION CONCENTRATIONS WITHIN THE REGION MAY BECOME UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS. Moving to tomorrow, we see record heat return with highs in the DC Metro area pushing or at 100 and surrounding areas in the upper 90's. There is a risk of storms again for tomorrow and this time the whole state is involved, again nothing to severe is expected. We will most likely see an Air Quality alert and/or a Heat advisory issued because of the expected heat index, which will be 100 to 105!
